what makes you vomit? the fact guerin is not coming back, signing svatos, or both.

as much as I like Guerin as a person and player, he just couldn't keep up with Sid or Malkin, and is no longer a top 6 caliber option for the penguins, and our bottom 6 is stacked. I hope he gets signed somewhere, he is a great lockeroom guy and will benefit for younger developing players, but its for the best that his time is up in Pittsburgh.

as far as signing Svatos.. are there any other better options out there for top 6 wingers? sure he has had injury problems in the past, but for 700K or 800K at the most, I would be willing to take the risk on signing him. He has some skill, and his struggles in the past years also had something to do with conflicts with the coach. He wasn't getting many minutes the last few seasons. But playing on Crosby's wing, I could see him potting 20-25 goals.

another top 6 option would be O'Sullivan.

There is also talk of Staal centering the 2nd line and Malkin moving to wing.
this is the line up I see

Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis/Svatos (if singned or O'Sullivan)
Tangradi/Dupuis-Staal-Malkin
Cooke-Talbot-Kennedy
Rupp-Adams-Asham
Godard

Martin Michalek
Orpik Letang
Goligoski Lovejoy
Depres

Marc Andre Fluery
Johnson

another mt. puckmore thing involving the kings.
my thought: if the kings had won a stanley cup before or after gretzkys time with them, he wouldn't be on that. gretzky is a king like mats sundin is a nordique

whoa, are you kidding? He was a King for 8 years and became world-famous in LA (instead of just being a canadian sensation, he became world-recognized). Gretzky coming to LA is a very important part of hockey history, really one of THE most important things. It literraly reshaped the landscape of hockey and the sport's followers. Even if you throw all of that aside, at the very least it made people care about the Kings and put them on the fucking map and gave the franchise some legitimacy.

Sure, the Oilers have claim to Gretzky on their Mount Puckmore. But I assure you, even if the Kings took the cup 5 times after his departure (and never with him), Gretzky would still be one of the most important faces of the franchise (and on that "Mountain")

i haven't had internet all summer, so now that i'm back i got some things on my mind.

1.earlier today i read an article about billy guerin wasn't going to be re-signed, but svatos might be.
my thought: vomit

2.thepensblog did this mt. dirtymore thing as a response to the mt. puckmore's on yahoo and everybody got jammed up because they put sid on it.
my thought: look pittsburgh, i thought we were supposed to like dirty players, we're the only people who like ulf, most of us think hines ward is jesus. and hell the 2nd best pirate of all time is honus wagner and he was apparently a huuuuge jagoff. plus that lambert guy is pretty slimeball...either embrace it or don't, because haters are gonna hate, and the youtube of him punching that dude in the marbles isn't going anywhere.

3. another mt. puckmore thing involving the kings.

Ducks took yet another huge hit to our hopeless blueline when Niedermayer retired.

Since then we picked up Lydman and Sutton, which should help some, but I'm still worried about it.

Selanne held on for another year.

One thing that did fail horribly in this offseason is this message board. Dead as christ.

Sutton became a Duck today, and I'm excited to get some gritty defense back on the team.

And yes, I am an expert.

Hey guys,

I've been thinking for some time about starting a punk rock and hockey podcast. Right now I'm looking for co-hosts.

Essentially the podcast would have segments dedicated to what was going on in hockey, followed by segments about good bands and other related topics.

If anyone is interested, contact me either here, on twitter (@Real_PeterEvans) or my site http://hoosierhockey.wordpress.com/.
